Andal and Thyagaraja were two of the most renowned saints in the history of Hinduism. They lived in different centuries and belonged to different traditions, but they shared a common passion for their devotion to God. Andal was a Tamil poet and saint who lived in the 9th century. She was a devotee of Vishnu and is considered to be one of the twelve Alvars, the greatest saints of the Vaishnava tradition. Thyagaraja was a Telugu poet and saint who lived in the 18th century. He was a devotee of Rama and is considered to be one of the greatest composers of Carnatic music.

Andal was born in the village of Srivilliputtur in Tamil Nadu. Her parents were Vishnu devotees and named her Kothai. From a young age, Andal was devoted to Vishnu and would often spend her time singing and dancing in his praise. When she was 12 years old, Andal composed her most famous work, the "Thiruppvai". The Thiruppavai is a collection of 30 verses that describes Andal's longing for Vishnu. It is one of the most popular devotional songs in Tamil Nadu and is sung by devotees every year during the month of Margazhi.
